Country Cob Bakery Victoria Takes Out Award For Australia's Best Pie

Victoria truly is proving itself to be the food capital of Australia this year. After 48h Pizza e Gnocchi Bar claimed the title for Australia's best pizza, Kyneton's Country Cob Bakery has come up trumps in the battle for the country's best pie at the 2019 edition of Australia's Best Pie And Pastie Competition.

In what sounds like a dream job, 12 professional judges from the Baking Association of Australia sampled an incredible 1760 pies from 345 bakeries across the country. The competition was held over three days, and for the third year in a row, Country Cob took out the top spot with their mouthwatering caramelised pork and pepper pie. What's even more impressive is Country Cob owners, bakers and brothers Ryan and Chan Khun, have only been in charge of the business for three years, making them the undefeated pie making champions of Oz.

Along with winning the best pie in Australia, Country Cob took out 11 other gongs at the comp, including Best Seafood Pie for their curry scallop creation and Best Vegetarian Pie for their tasty mushroom and leek number.

The competition also highlighted Australia's Best Pastie, with Jojo's Gluten Free in Kernot, Victoria, awarded the gold medal for their roasted vegetable pastie, and Australia's Best Poultry Pie, with Albury Riverside Bakery in New South Wales impressing the judges with their chicken curry delight.
